I just began reading The Shack by William P. Young. If you are a lover of words, you MUST read it. Usually I skip the Forward in my haste to delve into a story, but for some reason, this one I read. After only a few paragraphs I dropped the book and ran off for a pen so I could highlight the author’s amazing use of similes, metaphors and some of the best descriptive writing I’ve come across in ages.

Taste and see…

“When he (Mack) does speak you wonder if he isn’t some sort of alien who sees the landscape of human ideas and experiences differently than everybody else.”

“I suppose that since most of our hurts come through relationships so will our healing, and I know that grace rarely makes sense for those looking in from the outside.”

“What happened three years ago totally changed the melody of his life and it’s a song I can’t wait to play for you.”

AND THESE ARE JUST IN THE FORWARD!

  • I keep hearing a lot about The Shack. I guess I'll have to get one and read it.

  • I'm reading it with my book club because we heard there's a lot of controversy over it within the Christian community. The club's always interested in conflicting views. But The Shack is fiction, not theology.

    I think you'll enjoy it.
